Revisiting prophesies
from Holy Mount Tabieorar
from Holy Mount Tabieorar
... as The church of The Lord marks 83rd edition
Since its reception, the Tabieorar Festival has not only grown in popularity but has become universally adopted by all members of The Church of the Lord. Celebrated yearly on August 22, members are expected to fast and pray to God within a period of thirteen days. There is even a special song dedicated to the festival – “The Mount Tabieorar Festival has come. Mount Tabieorar is gleeful. The anniversary has come. Meritorious year has come. All hail the King of Glory. Praise to the Lord of mercy.”
The first Tabieorar Festival was held at Ogere, Ogun State, on August 22, 1937. But before the occasion, the late Primate and Founder of The Church of the Lord (Aladura), Dr Josaih Ositelu, heard a voice in a revelation, which led him to a place. This place was later named – “Mount Tabieorar” – but pronounced and sometimes written as “ Tabborrah , ” “Taborah,” or “Tabora.”
The Lord then told Ositelu to ascend the Mount on August 10, and with only one companion, which was Prophet Ola Diya. The Lord further directed that a fast should be undertaken with food without salt, pepper, oil, meat or fish, sugar or even milk or eggs.
After building a small tent, prayers were held all days and all nights. While praying, they also meditated on the Bible. The presence of God was greatly felt, as God spoke to Ositelu in visions, revelations, dreams and an audible voice. During these periods on the mountain, the Lord opened the gate of heaven for wisdom, power, and revelations, and many other promises were made to him. Here are some of the revelations – “My Church will flourish and last till the end of time. My Church will be extended to all the remotest parts of the world and nations of the earth shall testify to it that I am the true God that is dwelling in you, for I have made my habitation and possession in you.”
On the thirteenth day, the last day, God told Ositelu to open the Mount to the public for divine blessings from God.
On August 22, 1937, however, Evangelist N. O. Ogunderu led the congregation to the Mount. The people came in white robes, with candlelight in their hands and bottles of water. They sang: “Mimo, Mimo, L’Oluwa Oba Mimo awa yin O logo. Ijo akobi yin O, nwon yin O, awa t’aiye nsope . Mimo Mimo , L’Oluwa Oba Mimo awa yin O logo.”
For the benefit of those who don’t understand Yoruba, in English, the jubilation tune means – “Holy, Holy is the Lord, the Most Holy King we praise your name. The Church of the first fruits is praising you. We here on earth, give thanks. Holy, Holy is the Lord the Most Holy King we praise your name.”
As stated in www.aladura.net, the name “Mount Tabieora ” came during a few days of the first retreat. The name, according to the revelation, stands for the mountain of power, victory, and blessings. In other words, it means the mount from where the Holy Spirit would be disseminated upon all and sundry from all the remotest parts of the world.
The Mount Tabieorar can be compared to Shiloh where people go annually for prayers and for making sacrifices unto the Lord God Almighty (1 Samuel 1:19-20). It can also be compared with Mount of Camel where God revealed Himself as the Supreme God over other gods (1 Kings 18:20-40) or likened unto the Mount Bashan, which God desires for His abode, where the Lord will reside forever (Psalm 68:15-18).
Ositelu made certain predictions, also. He once recounted how an elderly man came to him in a vision on Mount Tabieorar during Nigeria’s agitation for independence in 1960. The man said to him, “Ko sile, oro Nigeria, Ominira inira , Ominira inira , Ominira inira . It means “Write it down in respect of Nigeria, Independence is hardship , Independence is hardship , Independence is hardship .”
Ositelu prophesied that if Nigeria got independence at that time, the outcome would not be favourable. He said after three years, law and order would break down. There would be no peace, there would be great hardship and evil would prevail everywhere to the extent that people with godfathers in high places would go scot-free whenever they committed any crime.
The evil that was predicted eventually came to reality in 1962. The trouble soon degenerated to the scrapping of a regional government and the declaration of a state of emergency in that region. That was the genesis of the problem facing Nigeria as a nation and it continued until May 29, 1999, when a new civilian President was sworn-in to rule the country.
While the first political predictions was made by Ositelu, the late Primate Adeleke Adejobi and Most Rev. Dr. Rufus Ositelu, who were successive Primates after the founder of the church, made the second and third respectively.
Ositelu publicly announced that God revealed unto him that the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo would not succeed in his bid to become the Head of the Federal Government of Nigeria until certain things were done. But it was gathered that Awolowo joked about it, questioning how God looked like. It is no longer news that he didn’t get his desired position before he died.
When Adejobi announced that the government of Alhaji Shagari would be toppled by a coup unless certain things were done, the Prophet of God was arrested by security agents for questioning. Muhammadu Buhari and Babatunde Idiagbon later toppled the Shagari-led government in a military coup.
Also, Rufus Ositelu, during the Tabieorar retreat in the year 2000, prophesied what would happen to the United States of America in 2001. Two copies of his book of revelations were sent to the USA embassy in Lagos, Nigeria. He said, “…pray for forgiveness of sin in order to receive the grace of God not to allow a less-powerful nation to wage war against them…”
On September 11, 2001, there was a major terrorist attack in America. They didn’t prepare for it, as they didn’t see it coming. Different publications explained the pains and graveness of the attack.
Headlines like “America in Shock,” “A Nation Mourns” and “Sifting the Rubble for Victims” led front pages of international newspapers.
Part of the Tabieorar revelations for 2001, published in August 2000, was about the kidnapping of innocent children. In confirmation of the fulfilment of the revelation, many print media reported in April 2001, stories of child kidnapping in the country.
The Sunday Tribune of April 1, 2001, page 29, reported, “The Primate of the Church of the Lord (Aladura), Most Rev. Dr. Rufus Okikiola Ositelu, who predicted that those making money with the blood of children would be exposed and killed … The Primate, in Tabieorar revelations, published in August last year, containing revelations for the year 2001 had, on page seven of the book, predicted concerning waves of child kidnapping in the country … Last month, not less than 26 kidnappers and those who made the penis to disappear mysteriously were apprehended and roasted in Ibadan … The cat was let out of the bag when a woman kidnapper was nabbed at Akinyemi Way junction, off Ring Road, Ibadan by a commercial (vehicle) driver, who raised the alarm about the woman’s devilish mission … The activities of these satanic agents are not confined to Ibadan alone, even as their operations in many states of the federation, including Abuja have been reported in some dailies.”
Similarly, The PUNCH of Monday, April 30, 2001, page 31, published: “Kidnappers in Ibadan.” In the report, it was stated, “…kidnappers have besieged the nooks and crannies of Ibadan city. They are searching for the quickest way to get rich. And they have decided to go to any length to make their dream a reality. According to a confession made by one of the hoodlums caught recently, the members of his gang are ninety-two in number. These people, who normally disguise as lunatics around the city just to hide their identity, move from one place to another, carrying bags containing phones, guns, charms and local and foreign currencies. On getting to Ibadan (or any other city), they choose nursery and primary schools as their ‘catchment’ areas … Some of the hoodlums caught have been killed and burnt by irate mobs …”
